3 Things My Dog Taught Me about Blogging and Making Money Online

When you’re open to learn, you can learn from anyone

Nefnef used to give me marketing lessons. Now she’s into blogging.

I’m completely normal.

How I ended up with a crazy dog like Nefnef is beyond me. She’s talking. She loves cats.

And there are simple words she refuses to learn.

Here she is talking:

But she knows about marketing. And blogging. Soon, you’ll be convinced of her wisdom, too.

Let’s get started.

#1: If You Want Something, Keep Nagging

Maybe I should have called her Nagnag instead of Nefnef.

Nefnef doesn’t take “No” for an answer. Sometimes I wonder if she even understands the word. When she wants something…

She keeps nagging till she gets it.

So should you. Maybe don’t scratch and throw teddies in the face of your blog readers. But you need to do what Nefnef does so well.

She’s consistent.

She nags my son and me every day. Weekdays as well as holidays. It makes no difference.

As for blogging… I recommend you take weekends and holidays off.

But be consistent.

#2: Be Patient… and the Cats Will Give Up

Oh… Maybe you’re not after taming stray cats.

That’s fine. This tip from Nefnef works for blogging as well. You need to be patient if you want to obtain anything.

Nefnef wants to be friends with cats.

The first stray cat she met tried to hit her with its claws. It was hissing and scratching the air in front of Nefnef’s muzzle while Nefnef was babbling about “cute little cat” or something.

Yeah, she thinks all cats are awesome.

Nefnef has tamed all the felines in the neighborhood for several generations.

With a blog, you need to be patient, too. It takes time to get traffic. It takes time to get clicks on ads or sales.

Be patient and you’ll get rewarded.

#3: If You Want Something, and Nagging Doesn’t Work, Give a Teddy

Her gesture is so cute.

She’s been nagging for a while because she wants me to go with her to the balcony. Or she wants a treat. But I ignore her scratching.

Then she uses her two ultimate weapons:

  • A teddy
  • Her cheesy grin

She knows I cannot resist.

But how can you give your readers a teddy bear? And will your cheesy grin charm them over?

Maybe not.

But you can give them something they want. Like a free eBook (note: clicking this link will take you offsite outside of Medium). Or a 5-day email course.

That way you can make them sign up for your email list and you can keep nag…. I mean, you can keep contacting them many times.

When you can do that, you can get them back to your blog where they can click ads, buy stuff and leave comments.

There you go.

Have you asked your pet what lessons it can teach you about blogging? Its wisdom might surprise you. Try it out.
