Isn’t communication a fascinating topic?
I’ve always been enchanted by it.
See how a lot of words are similar, even though we’re living spread out over the world.
A baby will say “mam mam” about food, and later his mother. The Latin word for “breast” is “mamma”.
And even cats have a specific language, although it’s my experience that they don’t use the same “words”.
Our cat, Frostie, says “miak”, if my husband asks him if he wants some food. And he uses a pigeon-like “coo” sound when he wants to tell us that no, no, he wasn’t doing anything not-permitted.
It’s all about words, isn’t it?
You know how bad things only happen to the others, right?
Like losing all your data…
Most people take backups once in a while. Maybe even on a regular basis.
And that’s good. I do so myself – once a year, I backup to an external harddisk.
Because bad things only happen to others, right?
Two weeks ago, some of our World of Warcraft friends got their Macs stolen.
I guess this woke me up! Brutally!
Although I knew I should do more frequent backups to my extern hard drive, I hadn’t given it a thought what might happen, if the house was robbed, or burned down…
Then both computer and backup would be gone. And that would mean lots of lost money for e-books, I’ve bought, video courses, my own products, pictures…
So instead of waiting for bad things to happen, I took pro-action and signed up for a cloud backup service.
Actually, this is the second one I’m testing. The first one, Carbonite, was slow, and they couldn’t help me, when I wanted to pay with PayPal.
So I found a faster, better and lower-priced site with a better reputation: http://malka.im/e/backblaze
You can start by getting a free 15 day trial, and you don’t even have to give them credit card number or PayPal account. You just sign up, download, and then you’re good to go.
Do it now, before it’s too late ==> http://malka.im/e/backblaze
P.S. You cannot use them as a spare online storage service, only backup, but below I give you 20GB free storage.
Have you noticed how even small things end up by taking a lot of time? Like submitting your blog posts to Pinterest, Facebook, and all the other social pages…
Personally, I find it annoying, so I do it sometimes, but most often I forget about it.
This is why it made me happy to learn about a plugin that would do all tedious work for me automatically!
So I bought it ==> http://malka.im/e/postsocializer
I used it for a while on one particular blog, and a couple of days ago I wanted to use it on a new, and somewhat similar blog.
I found a plugin that would add a featured image (necessary for Pinterest), but still, this plugin refused to work.
I posted new posts. I deleted posts. Posted them again.
Nothing ever went to Facebook or Pinterest! GRRRRR!!!!
So after hours of testing and searching, I gave up (I hate doing that) and created a support ticket.
And hours later, I got a reply. I gave the vendor access to my blog, and he tested and fixed the problem.
He even installed a few other plugins that would be useful to me, some of his own products. Awesome!
This happens more than two months after I bought the plugin. I love service like that!
So it’s with full confidence that I tell you about this plugin again – it works! And the vendor is top notch!
Anyone need some extra file storage?
There’s a new online cloud storage service called Copy. You can get 20GB free when you sign up with a referral link (15 GB without) and then you can get a bonus 5 GB for every referral, so if you have a list or social following, it could add up to a very nice free storage space for you.
In case you do want it, here’s my ref link: http://malka.im/e/copy
Works a lot like Dropbox, only they’re being more generous with the free accounts.
Do you have crazy friends?
Please “Like” my latest FB page 😀
P.S. Please do me a favor and tell me how you like my daily emails.
